FAQ’s

1. Do I have to arrange my own travel to Halong Bay?
No, we provide a shuttle bus or private car that will pick you up in the morning from your hotel, take you to Halong Bay and back to Hanoi at the end of the cruise. Of course, you must pay money for this service because it is not included in the price.

2. When we get pick up from hotels in Hanoi to Halong Bay?
We arrange shuttle bus (16 seat minibus) to pick up visitors from hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter.
Pick up time is from 7:30am – 8:00am every morning. You are recommended to have breakfast and be ready at hotel’s lobby.
If you use private car, pick up time can be changed due to your requests.

3. Can we hire Amira Cruises for private groups?
Yes, you can. But it is depend on our availability and schedule. Please contact us directly for further details and assistance.

4. What activities are there in the boat?
–   Taichi on sundeck.
–   Cooking demonstration.
–   Pruning fruits & flowers class.
–   Playing games.
–   TV show (films, art performances…).
–   Sunset party (enjoy Drink Happy Hours).
–   Squid fishing.
–   Caving.
–   Kayaking.
–   Swimming, sunbathing….

5. What are services included and excluded in price?
– Services included: welcome drinks, guide on board, sightseeing fees, room with air – conditioning and full     amenities, meals in dedicated, tea and coffee free in the room, 2 bottles of mineral water/room/day, insurance fee, activities follow by itinerary.
– Services excluded: transportation to and from Hanoi, drinks, tips and individual fees, government tax (10%) and other services are not mentioned in services included.

6. Are there any activities for children?
Of course, we have games and toys for children.

7. Do we have kayak in Bai Tu Long Bay with your boat?
Yes, we offer kayak free for all time. And you have more time for kayaking with 3 days/2 nights itinerary.

8. What should I bring on board?
You are recommended to bring: sun glasses, sun block, wide brim hat, insect repellents, swimming suites (in summer) or warm clothes (in winter) and original passport.
You can also bring some candy, cakes, books, notebooks, pens, pencils or other learning tools for children and elderly in the fishing village.

9. How many luggage should I bring on board?
You should bring with you the necessary ones as there is not much space on shuttle bus. Because we will drop you at the same hotel after Halong Bay trip so you can leave your big suitcase at the hotel. If you need to go directly to Airport or train station you can bring your entire luggage.

10. How can I pay for my booking?
We accept payment by cash, credit card or other method of payment via one pay or Western Union. Please access method of payment on website for more details.

11. If I have special request on food, what should I do?
We are willing to prepare alternative menu for your food requirement. Depending on your food request (vegetarian, food allergies or special diet), our cook will prepare the most suitable one. Please, inform us in detail your special food request at least 1 day before your departure date.

12. Can I smoke on board?
For safety reason, we recommend you should not smoke on board, especially in room, restaurant and other inside area. However, we also arrange smokers’ area on the sundeck.

13. Do you have a medical service or doctor on board?
There are no on board doctors as part of the crew. However, our boat is equipped with First Aid Kits and a basic medicine supply. Please ensure you bring adequate supplies of prescription medications to cover the duration of your trip. We also recommend you bring medicines for colds, fever and diarrhea. Of course we hope you will not need them, but it is always better to be prepared. If a serious medical emergency require assistance from onshore, we will take you back to the pier within one (01) hour. If you or one of your cruise companions is feeling ill, please inform Cruise manager immediately.

14. Is there internet available on board?
Yes, we set up wifi free on board. You can connect with internet in the room or restaurant.

15. Is it possible to be three people in the same room?
We don’t have available triple room. But we can arrange one extra bed or mattress for triple occupancy. Especially, we have family room which maximum for 4 people (parents & 2 children under 10 years old).

16. Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) on board?
Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages on board for consumption or any other use. Our bar stocks a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at very reasonable prices so there is no need to bring any on board. However, if you would like to request any special alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages then please contact our Sales Department.

17. Are there life jackets available on board?
Yes, life jackets are available in each cabin (in the wardrobe), in the dining area, and in the kayak; so please check for those once on board. Guests are recommended to wear a life jacket for all excursions, kayaking and swimming activities.

18. What is policy for pregnant woman on board?
We regretfully have to refuse guests who have entered their 35th week of pregnancy by the beginning of the cruise. Please advise us how far along (in weeks) your pregnancy is and confirm that you are in good health and are not experiencing a high-risk pregnancy. Besides this, please also inform us of your pregnancy in order for us to take good care of you. Amira Cruises strongly recommends you review your health insurance coverage before Halong Bay cruise.

19. Do your cruise offer access for the disabled?
We are really regret, there are no facilities for convenient access for people with disabilities. We would like to thank you for your understanding.
However, we warmly welcome inquiries from guests with disabilities. Please contact us directly to discuss in further details, so we can arrange the best services for you.

20. When is the best time to travel in Halong Bay?
Halong bay has a humid tropical climate. There are however four seasons in the North. Winter lasts from December to March; temperatures can drop down to 12°C-17°C. Summer is from May until September, mostly sunny but rain showers are frequent as the humidity is higher. Spring and Autumn are nicely warm, October to early December.
So, the best time of year to visit Halong Bay is during spring or fall. Because the bay is situated in the northern part of the country, it can get colder in late fall and winter. However, generally speaking, Halong Bay can be visited all year round. You should be aware that the cruise may encounter sporadic cancellations between July to September due to storms.

21. What happened if the bad weather?
We try to avoid operating our cruise in the bad weather areas. If there is a coming storm, we will monitor the progress of the storms very closely. And if there is any potential threat to our guests, the itinerary may be changed to try to avoid any interaction with the storm or any affected areas.

22. When the itinerary will be cancelled?
Amira Cruises never makes the decision to cancel a cruise. However, cruising and sailing in Halong Bay is strictly regulated by a local board – The Halong Bay Port Authority.
Every morning, The Port Authority delivers a permit to each cruise company allowing them to sail in Halong Bay. Both day cruises and overnight cruises are regulated this way.
In case of bad weather conditions and risks of tropical storms, The Port Authority might limit the possibilities of cruising and even decide to cancel all cruises.
In those cases, final decision by The Port of Authority is usually known only at 3.00pm on the day of departure.
Amira Cruises would inform their guests as soon as the information is available.

23. What is the booking cancellation policy?
Please be sure to check our terms and conditions prior to making your booking.
The cancellation policy depends on how long from period before departure date. And if you cancel booking for changing check-in date or length of your stay, cancellation fee will be changed due to your requests.
If you cancel permanently, you will be charged as in our cancellation policy.
